Praise To The Lord The Almighty
July 29, 2010This Sunday our choir special is “Praise To The Lord The Almighty!” This song is a paraphrase of Psalm 103:1-6, which begins, “Bless (PRAISE) the Lord, O my soul, and all that is within me, bless his holy name!” This was originally a German hymn that was translated to english and became very popular in America in the 19th century.
Spend time this week meditating on this passage of scripture and prepare your hearts for Sunday morning worship.
Psalm 103:1-6
“Bless the Lord, O my soul, and all that is within me, bless his holy name! Bless the Lord, O my soul, and forget not all his benefits, who forgives all your iniquity, who heals all your diseases, who redeems your life from the pit, who crowns you with steadfast love and mercy, who satisfies you with good so that your youth is renewed like the eagle’s. The Lord works righteousness and justice for all who are opressed.”
Lyrics to “Praise To the Lord The Almighty“
Praise to the Lord, the Almighty, the King of creation!
O my soul, Praise Him, for He is thy health and salvation!
All ye who hear,
Now to His temple draw near;
Praise Him in glad adoration.
Praise to the Lord, who o’er all things so wondrously reigneth,
Shelters thee under His wings, yea, so gently sustaineth!
Hast thou not seen
How thy desires e’er have been
Granted in what He ordaineth.
Praise to the Lord, who doth prosper thy work and defend thee;
Surely His goodness and mercy here daily attend thee.
Ponder anew
What the Almighty can do, If with His love He befriend thee.
Praise to the Lord, O let all that is in me adore Him!
All that hath life and breath, come now with praises before Him.
Let the Amen, sound from His people again,
Gladly forever adore Him.
Praise the Lord, Praise the Lord!
